Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re new to the studio, or trying something new for the first time, you might have a few questions. Here we’re done our best to answer them for you, but of course if you still have questions drop us a line on our contact page.

CLASSES
I’m new, which class should I start with?

You’re welcome to join any class that feels comfortable for you. For reformer, we offer an Intro class, however this isn’t compulsory. The best thing to do is to let your teacher know on arrival that you are new to practice so that they can go through anything specific with you and keep an extra eye on you to support you where needed. Our Intro Passes are also a great way to explore the different classes to see what works best for you.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early, so you can have time to settle in. The studio will open 15 minutes before the class begins. For your first visit we advise that you give yourself a little more time to ensure that you have been able to park etc and so that we can show you around.

What happens if I arrive late?

We understand that this can happen from time to time, however, we do ask that you arrive on time where possible so as to not to disturb the other attendees. Late admittance will be at the teachers discretion, as each class will have a different length of warm up so it is the teachers decision as to the safety of your admittance. Their decision is final. If you are late, we please ask that you are as quiet as possible, and do not slam the door, so as to not disrupt the practice of those around you.

Do you have to be a member to come to classes?

Not at all, we understand that not everyone can commit to a membership, so we offer both individual class passes and class packs to allow a little more flexibility, for more info on the prices and options available click here.

Do I need experience before coming to a class?

Not at all. Satya Sanctuary is an inclusive studio, and we welcome complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Our teachers offer lots of options so that you can move in a way that feels right for your body.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

We provide everything you will need for your class, however, you’re more than welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.

How warm are the hot or warm classes?

Our heated classes use infrared heaters, which heat the body rather than the room. Some studios use heaters that pump hot air in the room which can affect breathing and feel quite stifling, whereas infrared heaters are much less aggressive and better for the breath. Our warm classes sit at around 26-27 degrees whereas our hot classes range between 30-40 degrees. Our heaters mainly sit on the left hand side of the room if you are looking at the teacher, we therefore advise if you are nervous about the heat to place yourself on the right near the chill out lounge so that you can be a little cooler, or step out if you need to.

Is there anything else I need to bring to class?

Although we provide all the equipment you need, for our Barre, Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates classes you will need to wear grip socks. Don’t worry if you don’t have any you can purchase them either through our app or on arrival before your class begins. If you need to purchase socks please arrive early so that the teacher has time to process these things for you. We also recommend that you bring a water bottle and towel to more active or hot classes. We have facilities for you to refill these or cups if you forget.

What should I wear to class?

We recommend light breathable clothing. For Reformer Pilates and Trapeze in particular we recommend nothing too loose or with straps etc as we don’t want anything to get caught in the machine or rig. As mentioned above you will need to wear grip socks for Barre, Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates, you may want to wear socks and layers for some of the slower practices such as Yin, Restorative or our Sound Baths to keep warm.

Do you have a waitlist for full classes and what happens then?

Yes if a class is full, you can join the waitlist. If someone cancels you will be notified by email and then the place will be held for one hour for you to either accept or release your space. If you do not accept your space within this time it will be released.

Can children come to the studio?

Yes! We offer dedicated children’s and family classes as well as Mum & Baby Classes. For safety and safeguarding reasons children cannot attend adult classes. Attendees to main classes must be 16 years old or above.

Do you offer private classes?

Yes! We offer private classes in all of our modalities, whether its one to one or small group classes. These can be organised to take place either at the studio or a venue of your choice for example in the work place. For more information on our corporate offerings click here, our additional services click here, or to chat about arranging something click here.

What is your approach to teaching?

We are a trauma-informed, inclusive studio. Teachers offer options rather than directives, create a supportive environment, and encourage you to move at your own pace. If you need any additional support or have any concerns before attending class please don’t hesitate to reach out here so that we can do our best to support you.

Do you offer online classes or on-demand content?

From January 2026 we will be launching our online classes and on demand content. For live classes you can use your existing class passes. On demand content is accessible through our monthly memberships via the Satya Sanctuary app or with our on demand memberships which will be launching in January 2026. Prices for this will come soon.

What if I have an injury or health condition?

When you sign up to a class you will be asked to fill in your health information, which we ask you to please do, so that we have as much information as possible. We also ask that you make your teacher aware at the start of the class, so that they can have as much information as possible and in case they have missed anything on your intake form. We therefore ask that you arrive early to ensure the teacher has the appropriate time to discuss this with you and if needed look into it further. Please note however, that your teachers are not medical professionals so anything you do in class is at your own risk. The teachers and the studio take no liability for any injury or further injury that may come from taking part in classes. We also advise that you seek the advice of your GP or medical professional before taking part in anything new, as they are the best person to advise you.

Can I take part in classes whilst pregnant and how soon after birth can I get back to my practice?

Although we offer a dedicated Pregnancy Yoga class, you are more than welcome to widen the scope of your practice beyond this. During pregnancy you are welcome to join any of our classes except; hot or warm classes, Ashtanga, Trapeze, Sound Baths and Jump Reformer.

After giving birth it is advised that you wait 6 weeks after a vaginal birth or 12 weeks after a c-section before embarking on classes. It is of course important that you have had all your post natal check ups also. Please seek the advice of your post natal medical team before embarking on your first class. We advise that you start with our “Mamma” classes which are specifically tailored to post natal fitness and then go from there.

THE STUDIO

Is the studio accessible?

At Satya Sanctuary, we have two entrances one at the front and one at the rear half way down Church Hill. If you struggle with stairs or have a pram we advise the rear entrance, as there are less steps and there is somewhere to store your pram. Outside of our Chair Yoga and Mum & Baby Classes if you would like to use this entrance please contact the studio in advance so that we can ensure that it is open for you. To access this entrance head down Church Hill until you see Swiftsure Wealth Management, just after this you can turn left (if you are walking down Church Hill) into our courtyard. At the back of the courtyard is a black door which is our back entrance. This will be opened 10-15 minutes before the start of class.

Unfortunately, as we are in a semi-listed building we are not at this time wheelchair accessible due to the restrictions of the building itself. If you would like a one to one session and cannot access the studio we are more than happy to come to you. Please head to our contact page to organise this.

Do you have changing facilities?

Unfortunately, we don’t have designated changing facilities at this time, so we advise you to arrive ready for class.

Do you have lockers?

We don’t have lockers at present, however, we do have designated spaces for you to store your belongings. We recommend that you only bring what is absolutely necessary to class as space is limited. Please note that all belongings are left at your own risk and the studio does not accept any liability for any lost, stolen or damaged items.

Is parking available?

Although we don’t have our own designated parking we are right in the middle of town, so accessible from all of the towns car parks. The closest car park is King Street Car Park, there is also on street parking available locally.

You can also access the studio via train as we are only a couple of minutes walk from Knutsford Train station at the bottom of King Street.

Do you offer private hire for events etc?

We have both our main studio and recovery room available to hire. The recovery room can be hired either on a half day, full day or regular basis for things such as treatments, one to ones etc. The studio may be hired on an hourly basis, for events or workshops. It is not available for regular class hire. For prices contact the studio directly here .

Is there somewhere to sit before or after class?

Both the reception area and our chill out lounge are available before and after class. Our chill out lounge has armchairs, water and complimentary herbal teas available. We do however, ask that if you are in the chill out lounge whilst a class is taking place that you remain silent and do not take any photographs etc of those taking part to respect their experience. We also ask that you remove your shoes before entering this space.

MEMBERSHIPS & BOOKINGS

How do the memberships work?

We offer a variety of different memberships for our main studio and Reformer Room. Click here to head over to our memberships page for more info.

Do the passes on my membership roll over each month?

No, each month your class passes will refresh so don’t miss out and use your class passes before your membership month ends. Your class passes will renew on the same day as your renewal, so for example if you joined on the 16th of the month then your next month of class passes will be available to use from the 16th of the next month.

How does booking and cancellation work?

All of our classes are prebooked either through our team up site on our booking page by clicking here or by downloading the Satya Sanctuary app from the app store. This is often the most accessible and easy way to book.

If you need to cancel a class you can do so through the app or your method of booking. We ask that you do so with a minimum of 24 hours notice to allow others to join the class in your place and for the teachers to ensure they have the correct equipment etc laid out. Any cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will mean the loss of your class pass. For our unlimited members if more than 4 cancellations are made within this time in a month period, your membership attendance and bookings will be frozen for 48 hours. This is to keep the system as fair as possible to both the other members and also your teachers.

Do class passes and packs expire?

Yes, our individual class passes and class packs have a 3 month expiry unless otherwise advised, to give you plenty of time to use them. We also sometimes offer extended expiry in line with certain offers but this is applied only at these times.

How do the Intro Passes work?

Our Studio Intro Passes are £50 and give unlimited access to our main studio classes such as Yoga, Barre and Mat Pilates amongst others for 30 days. They do not however, give access to our Reformer Pilates or Bump to Babies classes. The Reformer Pilates Intro Pass on the other hand, gives access to 3 Reformer Pilates Classes within 30 days. This pass doesn’t give access to our main studio classes.

Both of these passes begin their time period on the day of purchase and expire 30 days later. They are a great way to explore the studio and find classes that suit your schedule. Please note that these can be used once per person.

Can I freeze or cancel my membership?

We offer a 30 day freeze period every year for instances like longer holidays etc. If you need an extended freeze please contact the studio and we will look at these on a case by case basis.

If you need to cancel, although we’ll be sad to see you go, we understand circumstances change so we have a minimum 3 month membership term, then a one month cancellation period. To cancel head over to your account, or if you need help reach out and we can organise this for you.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes gift cards are available to purchase by clicking here to go to our online store or in the studio. Please note that the studio is not open other than during class times, so it is often best to purchase online and we can then organise to get these to you.
